Position: Junior Electrical Design Engineer (MV Design)

Experience: 3–6 years in electrical design for Oil & Gas, chemical, petrochemical, or industrial projects

Location: Thane / Pune

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Electrical Design Engineer with 3 to 6 years of experience in Medium Voltage (MV) design for Oil & Gas and Industrial plant engineering projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical system design, layout, calculations, and analysis, along with hands-on experience using tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, and AVEVA Electrical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations including:
    • Load list, feeder list, cable sizing, transformer and CT/VT sizing
    • Relay setting & coordination studies, earthing sizing, tray loading
    • Lighting system and bus duct/busbar sizing
  • Design and layout:
    • MV control panels, switchgear panels, MCCs, and relay panels
    • Cable raceways, grounding and shielding systems
    • Electrical equipment layouts for substations, transformer yards, switchgear rooms, hazardous areas
  • Develop and review:
    • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection & schematic diagrams
    • Bills of materials for equipment and bulk items
  • Collaborate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors
  • Conduct feasibility studies and finalize technical specifications
  • Attend and contribute to technical discussions and project meetings

Technical Competencies

  • MV Power Distribution system design and analysis
  • Substation package design, MV switchgear (MVMCC, EMS)
  • Communication systems, fire alarm systems, cathodic protection
  • Grounding, lighting protection systems
  • Cable/wiring design for 4.16kV and related systems
  • Strong knowledge of protection relays, ACBs, SF6 breakers, VCBs
  • Familiarity with power system studies: short circuit, load flow, arc flash, harmonic analysis
  • Understanding of Electrical Codes and Standards (IEC, IEEE, IS)
  • Multidisciplinary EPC project exposure

Software Proficiency

  • Power System Analysis: ETAP, PSCAD, SKM, EasyPower
  • Electrical Design Tools: AVEVA Electrical, AVEVA Instrumentation, AutoCAD Electrical
  • Lighting Design: DIALux, AGI32
  • Heat Trace Calculations: CompuTrace
  • Productivity Tools: MS Excel, MS Office
