Position: EHS Manager / Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager

Experience: 8-12 years

Location: Evansville, Indiana

Duration: 12- 18 months Contract

SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) Manager, also sometimes referred to as an EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Manager or HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Manager, plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, as well as protecting the environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Developing and Implementing Programs: Create and manage comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs and policies that comply with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Monitor adherence to applicable laws, regulations (like OSHA and EPA in the US), and industry standards.
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and develop strategies to minimize accidents and environmental impact.
  • Incident Management: Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, ensuring they are aware of safety procedures, regulations, and best practices.
  • Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, coordinate drills, and manage emergency situations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in safety practices and drive initiatives to reduce workplace risks.
  • Collaboration: Work with other departments, such as engineering, operations, and human resources, to integrate safety into all aspects of the organization.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on safety performance, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the safety budget and resources effectively.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s  or Master’s degree in engineering, additional degree ( desirable) occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in EHS/SHE management, particularly in the  food , beverages, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP (Associate Safety Professional) are desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, risk assessment tools, incident investigation techniques, and EHS software.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills are essential for effectively managing teams, influencing stakeholders, and promoting a safety culture.
