Role Summary
We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer with strong experience in furniture design and industrial product development. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in wood and sheet metal furniture, proficiency in 3D CAD tools, and a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes. This is an excellent opportunity to work on innovative projects involving office furniture, storage systems, and seating solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather design requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
- Develop conceptual and detailed engineering designs for furniture products.
- Design and model sheet metal and wooden parts for furniture such as tables, chairs, sofas, and storage systems.
- Generate accurate manufacturing drawings from 3D models.
- Conduct design reviews to enhance performance, manufacturability, and resolve technical issues.
- Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and adhere to standards like ANSI, JIS, and DIN.
- Coordinate closely with customers and suppliers to ensure alignment on design intent and feasibility.
- Support production, assembly, and manufacturing processes with practical engineering inputs.
- (Preferred) Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, and material handling systems.
Desired Skill Set
- Strong grasp of engineering mechanics, strength of materials, and machine design principles.
- Minimum 4 years of core experience in sheet metal, wooden furniture, and material handling equipment design.
- In-depth knowledge of wood & sheet metal product design for industrial applications.
- Familiarity with furniture symbols and design elements used in overheads, towers, pedestals, cabinets, work surfaces, metal files, bookcases, seating, and undersurface storage.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Pro-E (Creo), or Autodesk Inventor.
- Basic understanding of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).
